What script can we follow to help teach us how to raise boys into men and girls into women?
Is it the one that culture pushes? This changes with every generation so no.
Do we look towards the latest social media influencers? Again, this changes constantly due to whatever is popular at the time.
Do we follow whatever example we learned from our parents? Not the best option for lots of people.
So then what do we do?
We need something that has been proven over the years as a reliable script.
So Sunday School answer is…Jesus…well great answer kid but looking more for the Bible.
The Bible gives us plenty of examples of great men and women to learn from but most of the examples failed in some way so do we want to follow their scripts?
Let’s look at Jesus then. Does He give you all the answers on how to raise your kids? No, but he does give you a foundation to build upon.
Will you find scripture that tells you how to handle social media? No, but you will find Jesus teaching on guarding your thoughts and not lusting or coveting others. Just go through Jesus’ teachings known as the “Sermon on the Mount” found in Matthew 5-7 and you will find a very reliable script that can help you raise your kids.
It is not a bad script for mom and dad to follow either as they navigate this thing called life.
