“Do you ever stop and think how did we end up here?”
It was Christmas day, I was having lunch with my mom. My kids had just left to go to their mom’s house for her holiday time. As we were eating I stopped and asked my mom the previous question. We both just shook our heads, laughed a bit and she said, “All the time.”
We both had different plans for our lives but things didn’t go according to our plans. I find it interesting that we both are starting over but at different stages of our lives. I am trying to navigate really how to start over as an adult. My mom is trying to figure out how to finish well (mom don’t kill me I am not saying you are that old…)
Either way we are left asking the question of “what happened?”
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” –Proverbs 19:21
I may never know why things happened like they did. There may be times that I look back and make sense of how things unfolded but still probably won’t understand “why.”
All I can know for certain is that God’s plan will prevail and it will be better than anything I could ask for or imagine. It won’t always be sunshine and rainbows but I know God will be with me through it all. As mom always says, “Remember who is on the Throne.”
