“I just want to hide from everyone and not tell anyone what is going on. I don’t want to go to church right now because I am afraid they will judge me if they find out.”
Why? Isn’t the church the place we can go with our problems? So then why do so many of us hide from the very people who can and want to help?
I believe it’s our own pride that causes us to hide from others. Our fear of man is greater than our desire to get help.
It reminds me of a friend who decided to take his motorcycle out for a ride even though his parents told him not to.
Everything seemed to be going great…until he crashed his motorcycle.
My friend ended up getting some pretty serious scrapes and burns from the crash. Instead of telling his parents that he crashed and had seriously injured himself he tried to hide it. This worked until the wounds became infected. At this point, he was forced to tell his parents what had happened because he needed medical attention. The doctors ended up having to cut out chunks of his skin and muscle due to the severity of the infections.
All because he wanted to avoid facing the consequences of his actions.
We would rather hide our issues and try to manage them which usually just causes them to turn into bigger issues.
Swallow your pride and ask for help now before your pride swallows you.
