You ever have those days where you are just ready for it to be night so you can go to sleep and start things over? It might even be a season for you that you are currently in. A season where you are just exhausted and maybe even a little depressed.

I recently heard a song by John Mark McMillan and in the chorus, he says, “Cause a new day Starts in the dark.” I don’t know about you but I can’t read these lyrics without hearing Harvey Dent’s voice say, “The night is darkest before the dawn.”

Not saying that we all will eventually turn into Two-Face, although have you seen some of you when you wake up…

I find encouragement in this song because I know that God is in control. Even if the previous day did not go as planned or was an absolute dumpster fire, I know that when I lay down to sleep, He is still working all things out.

Sleep is a great reminder that you cannot control everything. You have to sleep or eventually, your body will force you to. God never sleeps.

“I’ve also concluded that whatever God does, that’s the way it’s going to be, always. No addition, no subtraction. God’s done it and that’s it. That’s so we’ll quit asking questions and simply worship in holy fear.

Whatever was, is.

Whatever will be, is.

That’s how it always is with God.”

Ecclesiastes 3:14-15 (The MSG)
