My oldest daughter walked in as I was putting salt in my water and she was grossed out. I explained to her how adding a little salt to your water can help with hydration. No, I am not a doctor but I read an article online once that said these things are good for you or something…So thanks to my extensive online training, I went on to explain the science of sweating and how to properly stay hydrated…

As I finished my informal seminar, I ended by saying that too much salt in your water is bad for you. Hence, why you can’t drink saltwater. Of course, she wanted to know why that was so being the expert I am, I explained that too much salt shuts down the kidneys because they can’t filter out all the salt.

The very thing that can give you life, can also kill you.

What a great reminder for life. As wonderful as the ocean might be you can only stay out there for so long before you need to come back to shore for fresh water.
