Thanksgiving. Giving Thanks.

What is there to be thankful for? Many will be quick to express gratitude for the spouse, kids, work, house or even food which is a normal and right thing to do.

But what about the less than perfect moments? Are we thankful for those?

Thank you…

for constant messes. For the food crumbs all over the kitchen floor that just got swept.

for the shattered bowls and plates as kids learn to empty dishwasher.

for the Legos scattered throughout the house that cause pain as you step on them barefoot in the middle of the night.

even for the fights and arguments.

Each moment can be an opportunity for growth, if handled correctly.

Each is a chance to show and experience love.

Each moment is one less moment we have with them. Do we want to waste that moment responding in anger or frustration?

Or do we choose gratitude? Gratitude for we know we will never have this moment or time with our kids again.

It is the knowing that each moment is fleeting that should cause to pause and soak up each one.

Think of the last time you saw the sunrise. What did you do? Most of us stop and stare. We take in the beauty of an array of colors and soak up the warmth on our skin.

Take a moment today to pause and reflect on the less than perfect moments and give thanks.
