I enjoy playing card games. I grew up playing Pitch when the family would gather for the holidays. Card games are great because you never know what you might get dealt or how things will play out.

This is similar to life. You don’t always get to choose the cards you are dealt.

Many of us complain about the cards we have been dealt but forget there are still more cards to be dealt.

Think of it this way. Imagine you are playing Texas Hold’Em. Let’s say you are dealt a 3 and 4 of clubs for your starting hand. You are thinking there is no way you have any chance of winning but you decide to ante up and play anyway.

The first 3 cards are turned over to reveal an ace of spades, 6 of hearts, jack of diamonds. Your opponent decides to go all-in. They flip over their two cards to reveal a pair of aces. Three pair of Aces.

Your chances of winning are slim. The next card reveals a 5 of diamonds. Oh there might be a chance for you. The last card is revealed and it’s a 2 of clubs. With the last card you win! A straight.

In life, you may have been dealt what seemed like crappy cards. Don’t give up. Keep playing because you never know what you might get dealt in the future.
