What if I said I think God is similar to Genie from Aladdin? Let me explain.

Genie has three rules for granting wishes but I want to only focus on one: can’t make people fall in love. How does this relate to God? Glad you asked.

Years ago I prayed so hard for my marriage to be healed but that prayer wasn’t answered. At least not how I wanted at the time.

During that time and even now, the following verse was spoken to me.

Mark 11:24 says, “whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” A pastor on the Bible app taught this verse and said, “God wants to give you blessing upon blessing for His glory.”

So why didn’t God bless me and fix my marriage? Takes me back to Genie.

God doesn’t force love. Just look at Adam and Eve.

“The quality of any relationship is determined by the one who wants it the least, not the most.”

David Lieberman, Ph.D.

I think I can say that God would agree with this quote.

Back to my question, “Why didn’t God fix my marriage?”

Because He doesn’t force love. He wanted to help his children but also knew he couldn’t force someone to love. Being the loving Father, He was there to walk with me through the pain.

We may never know what God is doing during our life but we can trust that He has the best plan for us and will lead us through it all.
