“I am so proud of you! That was awesome!”
“Are you kidding me?! I almost died!”
It was my youngest daughter’s birthday recently, and I had been promising to buy her a new bike since she had outgrown it. So of course we had to take it out for a test ride.
The kids and I all hopped on our bikes and went for a ride. We ended up at the school parking lot with a nice incline letting you fly down it.
I got the great idea to see how fast I could go down the hill then u-turn at the bottom to see how far you could make it back up the hill without pedaling. I go flying down the hill, just about wiped out on the curb but being the pro I am I perfectly executed the turn.
As I head up the hill I think “Oh no Isaiah is following…”
SCREECH…CRASH!
I looked back in time to see Isaiah hit the brakes which caused the bike to skid and wobble ultimately throwing him off his bike. He had a few scrapes but nothing major because he did a great job of bailing and rolling off the bike.
Why was I proud? Because he went full send. He sought that adventure. He faced “death” and came out on top.
Boys need this. Moments to test their courage and see what they are made of.
