When was the last time you were asked this question as an adult?

We talk about our dreams quite a bit as we grow up but somewhere between high school and college graduation, we seem to give up on our dreams.

Some people land their “dream” job right out of college and then seem to coast until retirement. Others take whatever job they can find and give up on dreams in exchange for being able to pay bills.

Many of us just put our heads down, and work away our life so we can retire. We think if we just make it to retirement then we will have the time and money to dream again.

Sure, you may have a little more disposable income and time but you don’t have as much energy as when you were younger. Some of your past dreams may not even be plausible now that you are older.

What do we look forward to in this life if we don’t have some dreams? Dreams give us something to work for. They help provide us with purpose and direction.

True, not all of us will end up getting to compete in the Olympics but we can dream of being able to work at a job that allows us the freedom to watch every one of kids events.

Or you may never get a yacht but you can learn to save your money to take your family on a kayaking trip once a year.

So…what’s your dream?
