“At a certain age, it finally dawns on us that, shockingly, no one really cares what we’re doing with our life.”Stephen Cope
Wait, I thought everyone wanted to know about what I am doing with my life. Why else would I consistently post to social media and have a vlog…
Social media gives us the false sense that people want to know what we recently did. That darn “like” button can also make us a little narcissistic.
If you post something about your life and get several “likes,” well, that must mean people really care about your life. The amount of care people truly give is about as close as you and all your Facebook friends are friends. Yes, your IRL friends will care, but the rest will forget it by the next post.
The more shocking discovery was that no one knew what they were doing. I thought once I became an adult, I would understand the ways of the world, but it’s the complete opposite. The older I become, the more I realize how little I know.
Maybe that’s part of why no one cares what others are doing with their life. We are too concerned with trying to figure out what to do with our own lives.
It is freeing to realize people don’t care what you do with your life. Not that those close to you aren’t concerned with the direction you take rather, they realize that at the end of the day, the outcome is all up to you.
