Secrets can absolutely change your life.
The positive side is waiting to tell others about some exciting news that no one else knows. The negative side is keeping the truth from others about struggle or sin you don’t want to come to light.
One we are so excited to share, the other we would rather die than be exposed.
Why do we struggle to share our dark secrets? Well, let me share a secret…it’s pride that keeps us from sharing. And by not sharing the secret will eat away at your soul like a cancer.
I found this out the hard way. It is better to share the secret because it will be exposed sooner or later.
It’s like a leaky water pipe in your house’s wall. You can either fix it right away and deal with the minor consequences, or ignore it for years and have your wall collapse due to mold and rotting from years of “concealing” the leak.
We are so worried about what others will think or do if we were to share our secrets. We play out all these possible scenarios that might happen if we share.
Let me ask you this: would you rather deal with a few painful conversations that could help you work toward restoration? Or spend a lifetime being tormented by the secret you are hiding?
“Honesty is often very hard. The truth is often painful. But the freedom it can bring is worth the trying.”
