“Pain is the stimulus for change.” -Rob Dial

Have you noticed this new phenomenon happening at a playground near you?

At first glance, everything looks normal, you see kids running and jumping but look closer. Right behind those kids are parents. Parents who are ready to step in if things get too “dangerous.”

Parents running around yelling, “Stop! Don’t do that! Honey, be careful.”

I find it funny that, generally, the most overprotective parents have the worst kids.

Some of my best stories are from playground injuries.

We need pain to learn life’s lessons. Good and bad.

Swings are fun because of the scary feeling you get jumping out at the top. Yeah, it may hurt but your confidence grew because you overcame fear. Got punched in the mouth for talking smack? You will think twice next time.

No, not all pain is equal. Some of us bring it on ourselves when we try new things. Sometimes, we are wiped out by it because, well, life happens.

But in either situation, we have the same options: See this pain as a learning opportunity that can help us grow or let it crush us and become afraid to try again.

Pain is a part of life so to thrive we have to decide what kind of relationship we are going to have with it because that will dictate whether we succeed or fail.
