Shouting Affirmations

Have you ever stood in front of the bathroom mirror and spoken positive affirmations to yourself?

No, you have never done this? Now you are wondering what kind of crazy person does such a thing and why?

Well, I am one of those crazy people who has stood in front of my mirror and spoken positive affirmations to myself. The reason why is very simple and let me explain using a guy that’s not a huge fan of doing this.

“You don’t become confident by shouting affirmations in the mirror, but by having a stack of undeniable proof that you are who you say you are.” -Alex Hormozi

Ok, I should not say that Alex Hormozi isn’t a fan of “shouting affirmations at the mirror” because I do not know.

The quote actually proves to me why I need to speak positive affirmations. I know I need to put in the work to prove to myself that I am who I say I am but the problem is I overthink it and never get started.

I learned about “positive affirmations” or “self-talk” as Jon Acuff calls it in his book, “Soundtracks.” In his book, Jon proves that repeating his “New Anthem” (his form of a self-talk mantra) helped decrease overthinking and self-doubt while increasing satisfaction and productivity.

I am not saying everyone needs to stand in front of the mirror and do some sort of positive affirmations but for me, it works. I first had to convince myself that I could go do great things. Honestly, forget great things, I just had to convince myself that I was not a complete loser but had something to offer the world.

Once I started to believe that, I began to have the proof that I am who I say I am.
