Stuck Between a House and a Fence

“Find the answer on Google, forget it tomorrow. Find the answer in yourself, remember it forever.”

The other day I talked about the idea that “no one is coming to rescue you” and few days later I found myself in that exact type of situation.

We are working on a house that I decided to use a lift due to the height of the house. First day on the job my crew called to tell me that they got the lift stuck between the house and the fence. Move forward or back and they would ruin the vinyl fence.

Long story short, after trying various options that would require me to remove or destroy the fence, I took a step back and saw a much easier solution. I simply lifted the plastic body of the lift out of the way and found the clearance I needed to navigate safely out.

I was forced to find the answer myself because I am pretty sure there is no answer on Google for, “How do get 40′ foot boom lift unstuck from in-between a house and vinyl fence?” (How many of you just Googled this?)

What’s my point? When you realize no one is coming to rescue you, you get laser-focused on solving the problem in front of you. It pushes you beyond what you previously thought you were capable of. It opens up new ways of thinking that will help you later in life.
