“When I have more money we can do this. When my job slows down I will have more time to do…”

What if neither of those things ever happen? What if you don’t make more money or work picks up instead of slowing down? What if this is your future life?

I get it because I hope for the future all the time. I think that in the future things will magically change and get better. In the future, I think my businesses will have taken off so I am just flush with cash which means I can get a bigger house and nicer car (or at least something other than a blue mini van…).

Who knows, maybe if I work hard enough those things will happen but what if they don’t? What then?

I constantly have to remind myself to make the best of where I currently am. The best way for me to do this is to take inventory of my life.

I have to stop wishing for what I don’t have and begin thanking God for what I do have. I have everything I need. That’s the key. Everything I “need.” May not be everything I “want” which means I have to work on a little thing called “contentment.”

Besides it’s a depressing way to live, to never be satisfied with what you have. You end up just hating everything you have because it’s not what you desire.

Take inventory of your life today and pick one thing to be grateful for.
