Recently I overheard a gentleman say something to the affect, “Don’t curse the passing inconvenience of the snow piles for the future blessing in spring.”

Here where I live in Iowa, we have had a ton of snow in a short amount of time and quite frankly most of us are already over it. This gentleman was trying to encourage by reminding that snow now has positive impact later.

Snow now is good because it waters the ground for future crops and it fills up lakes and rivers. Oh and of course it’s great for sledding, snowball fights and eating (just avoid that yellow snow).

Even though I know this gentleman was referring to the weather this quote makes quite a bit of sense for life. How many of us curse short term passing inconveniences and forget the blessings they might bring in the future.

We want instant gratification instead of delayed results.

No one wants to wait months to save up enough money to buy that new item you really want. Just put it on the credit card and pay for it later.

Working out is hard and makes your whole body hurt so why even do it? Your body might hurt a bit now but better than a heart attack later.

Are you satisfied with the quick temporary results or are you focused on the long term lasting results?

As the saying goes, “Anything in life worth having is worth working for.”
