A prayer from the Bible App got me thinking about our time here on earth.

“God, I am humbled that you carefully consider my life. Even though I am only here on earth for a moment, you care deeply about that moment.”

Our lives are but a moment in time. A blip on the timeline of history. When you think about it, we really are not that important. We will die and be forgotten in a few generations.

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”

2 Peter 3:8

God does not see or experience time like we do. God is outside of time. Even though we are just a blip on the timeline of history, God has been loving us since the creation of the world. He knew exactly when our little blip was going to show up on the timeline and how things would play out.

God sees all of time at once and can see the impact that each of our blips will make on history. He created every one of us with purpose and meaning.

Our lives have meaning not because we lived long fulfilled lives or made a lasting impact on the world during our “moment” but because the Creator of the universe loves us.
