What am I going to do? This situation feels like it’s out of my control. Worse is that I feel worthless because I can’t change the situation. I feel beaten down because all my efforts feel for nothing.

Have you ever been in a situation where no matter how hard you try to “fix” things, it doesn’t get better? Let me share a story with you.

Back in my high school days, I played quarterback for Corn Bible Academy 8 man-football team. My junior year we were absolutely awful.

We won one game, got run-ruled by several teams…in the first half, and the season ended when our 8th man broke his leg. So you can imagine it wasn’t super fun being the QB.

And who did I blame? Everyone else. I would yell at my teammates for messing up a play, throw my mouthguard and honestly just pout.

A dad challenged me on my attitude and to be a leader.

Senior year, I focused on being the best I could be.

I am not saying my attitude change was what turned things around but it definitely helped. We ended up winning 9 games that season. A teammate and I even got invited to play in the 8-man all-star game.

I couldn’t change the other guys on the team but I could work on me. It’s amazing what can happen when you begin to take responsibility for your actions, words, and attitude.
