Oh to love again. Is it worth it to find love again? And what does that even mean to “find love?” Is it worth it to be vulnerable thus setting yourself up to be hurt again?

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.”

C.S. Lewis

Love is a tricky thing for it brings the greatest pleasure and joy but also the deepest pain. To fully enjoy something or someone, you must love, if not you just like.

To experience love you also have to face the possibility of rejection. That’s just part of it. There is no guarantee with love which what makes it so scary.

It’s like Genie in the movie, Aladdin, when Genie says he can’t make someone fall in love with Aladdin as one of his wishes. Sure, that seems like it would be easier but that’s not love.

Love isn’t love without choice. That’s what makes love, love. Choosing everyday to care for, invest in, serve, honor, protect…(did I just sign up for the police department), that person every day is to love them. Knowing full well they could reject that love every day as well.

I am not saying this as a bitter divorced guy but as an encouragement.

The love you do enjoy in your life is because someone chose you. That’s what makes it great. It’s also what makes it worth it to love again.
