The beginning of growth starts with accepting where you are right now.

It’s like starting any home remodeling project. You have to take an assessment of the tools you have and any you might need. You go over the plan or begin to formulate a plan. Then you put that plan into action.

Taking ownership of your growth goes through similar steps. You need to evaluate what tools you have at your disposal to help you grow or if there are tools you need to acquire. Setting goals helps you make plans for where you want to end up.

This is all about self-ownership. If you blame others then you will never take responsibility for where you are. If you blame others, you will expect someone else to get you out of your current situation.

Telling yourself the truth of where you are at is going to hurt a little bit. There will be areas that you know you can do better in. This isn’t a time to call yourself a loser for all the areas that you have missed the mark in. Rather it’s a time to take an assessment and decide which area you want to focus on first to begin to grow.

You must accept that life did not turn out as planned. Yes, mourn the loss of the dream then begin to move forward. Start small by stacking small wins to create some momentum. Before you know it those small wins will have compounded like a snowball rolling down a mountain.
