“Faith is ‘trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse.'”

Philip Yancey

I would agree only if you take the time to reflect on what happened.

How in the world did I make it through? I can’t believe so many years have already passed. Have you ever asked yourself these questions after facing a difficult season in your life? Maybe you finally made it through something you originally thought would crush you but now there is light.

It takes faith to believe that God “will work out all things for good.” Because during the storm you cannot even fathom how any good could come out of the situation.

Faith isn’t a crutch that the weak use to give themselves false hope. Faith is for the strong. It takes courage to release control of a situation and trust God will come through.

It’s our natural response to fight for control and hold on even tighter but that’s counterproductive. Why hold onto the weight that is drowning you? Release it so you can be pulled back to the surface.

Faith is scary because we aren’t in control of the outcome. But it shouldn’t be scary because the Creator of our lives has a plan so why not trust that plan instead of trusting in our limited strength? It may not make sense right away but that’s why it’s called faith, “confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
