What’s the point? I have been following Jesus for years and look where it got me. Why should I keep doing the right things? What’s the point?
“Keep doing the right things because it’s the best recipe for living.” -Carl Thomas
Following God isn’t about the benefits you receive or making your life easier. It may get harder so why do it?
It’s better than the alternative.
But look at the rich and famous people who don’t follow God. Their lives look great. It seems like they have everything. That’s because you only see the edited version that may make things seem better than they are.
12 “This is what the wicked are like—
always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.
13 Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure
and have washed my hands in innocence.” -Psalm 73:12-13
At times you may feel overwhelmed by life. You may look around at the world and compare your life with others and get disheartened. In those times have the attitude of the psalmist:
26 “My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.” -Psalm 73:26
As Christians, we can be encouraged because God is our portion. What does that mean? God is the source of our happiness and blessing so in Him we have way more than this world could ever offer.
So when you feel like giving up, turn to God to find the best recipe for living.
