“Only God can see what’s missing in our lives as we ask for His provision. We feel the ache of a need and naturally fill in the blank of what we think we need.”

Lysa Terkeurst

Journaling is the absolute worst. Who knew that something you wrote down years ago would resurface to smack you in the face? Ok, I like journaling for this very reason. You get to see where you have grown or see patterns that reveal areas you need to grow in.

I feel this “ache” all the time which I also then try to fill the “ache” myself but that doesn’t always work.

There are days I wish God would just show me how He is going to provide. It would be so nice to know if all the effort in a certain direction is worth it.

But the flip side is that I don’t want to see how God will provide. First off because I may not like what I see. Who says it’s positive? What if God provides through a trial?

Second, that isn’t faith. Faith is a journey of trusting God at every step. Trusting that in His Goodness He will provide all you need at the right moment. Not before or after. But exactly what we need right on time.

That “ache” is like hunger signaling us to take action. The “ache” is there because God put that longing there for us to deeply desire Him. So when we feel that “ache” instead of rushing to get rid of it, use it as a chance to thank God for all the ways He has and will provide for you.
