You can use it to give your kids looks. From “The Look” when they are acting up to a wink to let them know you love them.

You can use it to look back to see the chaos of tired kids sitting too long or they just consumed a trip’s worth of candy in the first 30 minutes.

You can see a fight break out due to a seat being leaned back too far or someone putting their feet on the armrest in front of them.

But you can also see the joy and belly laughs from the same tired kids who will do anything to pass the time. From making funny faces to talking in different accents or singing a random song that includes butts and farts. You can also witness the peace when each kid is asleep. Or the younger sister who earlier was fighting with her older sister now sleeping on her lap.

A lot of life happens in the rearview mirror but we can’t spend all our time looking back or we will miss what is ahead (or you know crash…)

What happens now in the rearview is a part of the journey. It helps us get to where we are going but it’s not the destination.

It reminds us to look back now and then and remember what matters most. To not get so focused on the destination that we miss out on the adventure along the way.
