Read the book. No, I am not trying to start a debate on whether the book or the movie is better. I am talking about doing the little things with your kids even when you don’t feel like it or have other things to do. Those can wait. Time with your kids can’t.
I have always tried to live this way with my kids but I have noticed lately that I have been zoning out when I come home or just want a few minutes of peace.
Nothing wrong with a few minutes of peace but I can have plenty of that when they are with their mom. So when they are here I need to enjoy time with them as much as possible.
But we all know that life happens and it can become difficult to find time. Between running them to school, sports activities, church, and whatever else there’s not much time.
I realized I need to seize the free moments and that’s why I say, “Read the book.”
The other night I had a church activity with my oldest daughter. When we got home it was bedtime but she needed to shower which meant the other two were going to want to stay up until she was done.
I told my son to read his book. I left to go eat some supper but before I did he asked me to read to him. I said no because I wanted to go eat. No sooner did I get to the kitchen than my brain says, “Food can wait. Don’t miss this moment. Go back and…
Read the Book.”
